What we do
Coordinate
Coordination is key - especially in places like Mysore, India, where international yoga students come and go throughout the year. We help locals and international yoga students to work together to ensure year-round support to Mysore’s street dogs.
Provide Volunteers & Safe Spaces
There are so many well-meaning dog lovers that pass through Mysore, India, wanting to help. We ensure that our volunteers are trusted and educated to provide these dogs with the best possible support. We also work to provide safe recovery spaces for injured/ill street dogs.
Educate
There’s a lot of misinformation out there, and it is deeply intertwined with culture. We try to educate locals and internationals alike in best practices around supporting street dogs in India.
Build a Foundation for Health
Fresh water, nutritious food, vitamins, and love first. It can be so tempting to try to throw medication at the street dogs’ overwhelming health concerns. But it’s always best to start with the basics and build up the dogs’ immunity and foundation for health before anything else.
Vaccinate and Protect
Vaccination is the key to preventing the spread of deadly disease. Street dogs in India face threats such as Rabies, Distemper, Parvo, Lyme Disease/Tick Fever, and more. We facilitate vaccinations and preventative medicines for as many dogs as possible in Mysore, India.
Spay & Neuter
Dogs can be fixed anytime after 4-6 months old. An uncontrolled street dog population leads to thousands of dog deaths - with most puppies not surviving past 12 months. These deaths are heartbreaking for the puppies, the mothers, & the communities.
Our vision is to reduce suffering in the world and to provide a voice for the voiceless.
In India, in many places dogs are considered a nuisance. More often than not, they are not cared for - or are even abused and neglected. They suffer daily trying to make it on the streets, struggling to find a safe place to live and avoid attacks by other dogs and humans. What’s more, lack of spaying and neutering causes overpopulation, which brings a whole host of other struggles, illnesses, and deaths to these innocent creatures.
Our mission is to reduce suffering by:
Help animals that are injured or sick
Reduce the population by spaying and neutering
Find safe places for the animals to recover from surgery/illness/injury
Vaccinate and help build immunity of the dog that are on the streets reducing disease
To fulfill this mission we need:
Funds to spaying and neutering
Funds for local staff
Funds for medicine, after-care, vaccinations, and emergency surgeries
Funds for clean water, food, and materials
Volunteers to support our mission both on the ground and from afar
